A growing number of research studies have integrated the approach and methodologies of neuroscience, in particular functional neuroimaging, to the field of human obesity. Some of this work has included bariatric patients. Examining obesity and bariatric surgery through this new lens of neuroscience can bring valuable insights and open new directions and opportunities to improve current clinical practice.

The goal of this symposium is to provide an illustration of some of this ongoing work that connects the brain with obesity, identify potential synergies between bariatric surgery and neuroscience, and provide a window to the future.
